After being cooped up at home for months already, winter can seem overwhelming, as it appears you are going to spend more time indoors. However, with a quick change of perspective, wintertime can become your playground, family time, happiness, laughter and even exercise. Now that winter is here, there are many activities you can do solo or enjoy together as a family. Let’s take a look at how you can make the most of the outdoors this time of year.
Build a snowman - if you live in a snow-covered part of the country, get out and start rolling a snowman. Stack 3 large snowballs, add coal eyes, a carrot nose, sticks for arms, a scarf, and ta-dah, a snowman is born. What better way to bring out your inner child!
Go sledding - Choose a sledding hill in your neighborhoodor go to a local park or forest preserve to find a safe sledding area. Grab your sled, walk up the hill and slide down the slippery slope again and again, for an afternoon of speed and adventure.
Go ice skating - find a local ice rink, strap on your ice skates and glide effortlessly around the ice for hours. Even play ice hockey with your friends, if you are up for the challenge.
Go snow skiing or snowboarding - find the closest ski hill in your area and ski down the slopes time and time again, making the most of your energetic day.

Make hot chocolate - Now that you have been outside enjoying winter activities, it might be time to warm up with a favorite winter treat – hot chocolate. Making it is easy. Here is one of our favorite recipes, so you can make a cup for yourself.
Mix 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons sugar and a pinch of salt in a saucepan. Add 1 cup milk of your choosing. Heat and stir until the mixture is warm and well blended. Pour into a cup, add some marshmallows, and sip away!
