Walking the walk
Walking – it’s simple, enjoyable, gets you from point A to point B, is good exercise, and its free. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your walk.
Pick a destination to walk to. It can be a short distance or a longer distance.
Put away your phone. Look at everything around you. Notice the scenery, the beautiful, the unusual, the ordinary, the functional, and all details that make up the area you are traveling.
What do you like about it and why? Engage the thought process behind your feelings as you walk.
Feel your movement, feet on pavement, hands and arms swinging, the breeze in your face.
Become aware of all your senses. Hear, see, touch, smell and taste what is going on around you. (Well maybe not taste!) Have the interest that a small child would.
Make a mental note of all the things that interest you and that you would like to take a picture of or explore further.
Go back on that same walk on another day, with your camera, and notice what is different on the second walk. It will feel like you just went on a new walk to a new place.
