Is it necessary to wake up at 5:00 a.m.?
Does
being an early riser make you more productive? It is a common assumption
that hoping out of bed at the crack of dawn translates into explosive
productivity.
But
is this really true? Maybe you are a night owl and the thought of getting
up super early freaks you out. Maybe you’re not a morning person and your
creativity doesn’t flow until later in the day. Let’s explore what is
really going on here. Waking up early does give you more hours in the day, but
are you more productive if you get up and watch tv in your pj's and drink
coffee? Of course not. What is happening here is the power of intention.
If you have a clear and defined task to do, you are more willing and ready to
get it done, early or not. Intention represents a mental commitment to
carrying out an action for future gain, which is what drives your productivity
and what dictates how much you get done during a given time frame. There are 3
main ways you can enhance your intention and use it to get what you want in
your life.
First, decide what you want. Know exactly what goal you are aiming for. It must be specific and something you really want to achieve.
Second, get clear on your why. What do you want to accomplish or do in your life and how is this goal connected with that?
Third, visualize the end result. See it clearly in your mind. This helps you to see where you are going and helps you make a path on how to get there.
So, you don’t have to get up extra early, you just have to focus on what is most important to you. Set your intentions to achieving your goals and follow through any time of day.
