How to adopt good sleep habits
We all know that getting a good night's rest can be difficult sometimes. Sleep is such an important factor to being productive and feeling good during the day. So what can you do to try and improve your sleep quality? There are many things that you can try. Take a look at your sleeping space and your sleep habits and see if there's anything that might be stopping you from getting that sleep you deserve. Sometimes, making a small change can make the biggest difference. Here are a few tips to help you.
- Maintain a regular sleep-wake cycle
- Avoid caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and other chemicals that interfere with sleep
- Make your bedroom a comfortable sleep environment
- Establish a calming pre-sleep routine
- Go to sleep when you are truly tired
- Do not watch the clock at night
- Limit light exposure in the evening
- Don’t nap too close to bedtime
- Do not eat or drink too much before bedtime
- Exercise regularly but not too soon before bedtime
Try out one or more of these tips and see if they can help you improve your sleep quality. Some changes might take a few nights to really help so don't give up.
